SPRING SOCCER PROGRAM FOR 2008
Introduction
Good News! LVSA would like to introduce our new Spring Recreation Soccer League for 2008. A few months ago we conducted a survey that found a good deal of interest in this idea. Our Spring program will be condensed as compared to our fall program because we had very limited time to get a program implemented for 2008 spring season and had to compete with other sporting activities in Long Valley for fields. We are going to modify the divisions based on number of registered players for each age group since we can only estimate the level of participation.
Spring Soccer Program
Our concept is to have organized pick-up games for each division, where the players will be placed on a team for each game. Therefore, participants will not be assigned to a single team for the season, instead each week we will “choose up sides” and play – with adult volunteers overseeing each session. Our season will run from April 15, 2008 to May 17, 2008 and we estimate 5 games during that timeframe. Younger children (e.g. Kindergarten, 1st graders) may have the boys and girls combined. The divisions will be designed based on the number of participants that register to ensure we have the proper number of players for games.
Late-Registration
WALK-IN REGISTRATION WILL BE HELD AT THE LONG VALLEY PUBLIC LIBRARY ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 2008 FROM 6PM TO 8PM. The cost of the program is $20. Click Here to download and print the registration form. A separate form must be filled out for each participant. We will also have blank registration forms available. Due to the timeliness, this is the last time to register for the spring season.
Safety Rules
- All players MUST wear shin guards with the solid plastic insert guard pieces as opposed to the all foam shin guards. Your child will not be permitted to play without them.
- Kindergarten - Cleats may be worn, but not mandatory.
- All Other Grades - Soccer cleats are recommended. No baseball cleats (they have a spike in the toe).
- No jewelry, necklaces, earrings, bracelets etc. may be worn during games in order to reduce the chance of injury to a player.
- Baseball hats may not be worn by players. Tie backs for hair are allowed, although they should be of a type that will not cause injury if contacted by another player or the ball.
